"The Outdoor Classroom Project includes the construction of a pavilion and a fitness trail with physical exercise stations, birdwatching stations, and identification labels of the plant life along the trail. The project is funded by grants from Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation and the Youth Development Foundation of SkillsUSA. Lowe's of Beaufort is our community helping hand for selection, purchase and delivery of materials and support for this endeavor.
The most unique feature of this project is that the construction of the project will be done by vocational students at ACE. The project is part of this year's curriculum in the classes of Building Construction, Electricity, Horticulture, Graphics, CAD, Physical Education and Health, Science and Culinary Arts.
At the completion of the project in Spring, 2008, the pavilion will be a site for classes and school and community events to be held. The fitness trail will be a tool for the Health/Physical Education students to earn their Presidential Active Lifestyle Award. It will be available for the community members to enjoy along with the students and faculty at ACE."
