GENERAL INFORMATION

 

Purpose:

Beaufort-Jasper Academy For Career Excellence (BJACE) is seeking participants to respond to the Requests for Pricing (RFP) for e-rateable telecommunications services and internal connections as listed on BJACE’s web site (bjace.org).  Interested parties will be required to submit an “intent to Participate” form which includes their Service Provider Information Number (SPIN) for e-rate purposes no later than 03/17/08.  For further information, contact Cathy Smith at smithc@bjace.org or 843.987.8107.

Proposal Format:

Proposals must be submitted in the format outlined in this document.  Each proposal will be reviewed to determine if it is complete prior to actual evaluation.  Proposals not containing the information requested will not be considered.  Respondents shall use the prescribed format to clearly indicate their experience and qualification, describe their technical approach to the district project, and fully describe their proposal.

 Contractor Requirements:

The selected contractor will be required to assume total responsibility for all services offered in this proposal.  The selected contractor will be considered the prime contractor and the sole point of contact with regard to all contractual matters.

Taxes, Fees, Code Compliance, Licensing:

The contractor shall be responsible for payment of any required taxes or fees associated with the contract.  The contractor shall be responsible for assuring compliance with all applicable codes and statues and permitting requirements.

Additional Information:

This solicitation does not commit the District to award a contract or to pay any costs incurred in the preparation of a proposal, or to procure a contract for the services.  The District reserves the right to accept or reject any or all proposals received as a result of this request, or to cancel in part or in its entirety this proposal if it is in the best interest of the District to do so or e-rate funding is not available.

Equipment and installation:

• Ø      District is seeking fiber cabling, switch port capacity, connectors, necessary mounting equipment and Panduit series 70 raceway for 60 stations.  Each port must operate at minimum of 100 Mega Bits.

 

• Ø      District is seeking an upgrade from 100 Mbps to 1000 Mbps for 4 servers’ network connectivity and switch capacity (blades for a Cisco switch and router) needed to upgrade.

           

• Ø      District is seeking the following equipment and installation:

 

60 -      Fiber Network Interface Cards 100fx/sc with SC to MTRJ 2 meter patch cables

20 -      Wireless 802.11g USB

             2 -       Backup tape and software for Dell Poweredge 2850

             5 -       Copper to fiber (TX-to FX) converters

 

Wireless Connectivity:

• Ø      District is seeking the installation of five additional wireless 802.11g access points and associated cabling.

 

Video Components:

• Ø      District is seeking the centralized video components necessary to transport information all the way to individual classrooms. Including the following:

 

CODEC/Video encoder

Master control Unit with software

Multipoint Control Unit

PVBX

Video Amplifier

Video Channel Modulator

Enhanced Multimedia Interface

Cabling

 

 

Network Maintenance:

• Ø      District is looking for support which will include one level 2 network technician on call for an estimated 65 service calls annually and one Novell network engineer on call 24/7 with a minimum response time of 24 hours to support the Novell 6.5 OS and Windows 2003 Server OS Ethernet network, including all fiber switches, hubs, fiber cabling, cat5 cabling, routers, Nortel BCM System, PVBX system and one web server and one email server.  The maintenance service would be for repair and upkeep of eligible hardware, wire and cable maintenance, basic technical support, and configuration changes as needed.

 

• §         Technician Requirements: minimum of 3 years experience in telecommunications, data, networking and video networking.
• §         Engineer Requirements:  CNA/CNE Certification in Novell 5 or 6 minimum of 3 years experience in network management.

                       

References will be required.

 

Operating System:

• Ø      District is seeking license for Novell SLA for unlimited servers and 600 users.
• Ø      Windows 2003 server operating system.
